There's no shame in lighting up election season with these ballot-busting cocktails
First things first- vote! Then vote YES for cocktails to liven up your election night parties, voter guide gatherings and election anxiety. Just be sure to do it in style. We checked in with the cocktail experts at The Miranda in Oakland, California for their favorite drinks to get us through the insanity of election 2020.
(Bright red lip optional)
1 sugar cube
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 ounces Bourbon, we suggest Four Roses
Muddle the sugar cube and bitters in the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass.
Add ice and bourbon.
Stir. Garnish with a lemon twist.
You know Mamala's not playing. Your cocktail shouldn't either.
6 lemons, juices and grated
6 oz sugar
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 bottle golden rum
1 bottle brandy
1 cup sherry
1 - 1/2 quarts boiling water
Mix and muddle lemon juice and gratings, sugar, and ginger. Let stand for at least 1 hour.
Place in a large bowl and add enough hot water to cover. Stir thoroughly and add liquors and balance of hot water.
Makes 12 5-oz servings.
Garnish with a twist of lemon and a healthy dose of hope for this cocktail!
1 sugar cube
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 oz brandy
6 ounces chilled Champagne
Soak the sugar cube in the Angostura bitters and place it in the bottom of a Champagne flute. Add the brandy.
Fill the glass with Champagne. (see above for garnish!)
