Habits of Waste's #CutOutCutlery campaign is asking Grubhub and DoorDash to create an opt-in for single-use plastic waste. You can help get them there.


Habits of Waste (HoW) focuses on protecting our planet by driving a collective societal effort of individuals making change. Our habitual behaviors result in enormous levels of waste but every time each of us breaks a “Habit of Waste”, we shift our society to reach what we call “eco-normal." Join us to learn how you can change habits of waste. 

Eliminate plastic waste by asking Grubhub, Postmates and Doordash add opt-in features for plastic cutlery. Each year, 40,000,000,000 single-use plastic utensils are thrown away mostly because they are automatically delivered to homes via takeout orders. This is a habit of waste we can change. 

Join the campaign that Habits of Waste (HoW) launched to #CutOutCutlery. We're a non-profit working to protect our planet by finding solutions that will allow individuals to make environmentally positive choices. It’s imperative to convince the remaining apps to join in so that we have a seamless "new normal”  for restaurants to save money and to protect the planet without a heavy lift. 

Grubhub and DoorDash are the two remaining food delivery platforms that should install an “Opt-IN for single-use plastic cutlery (and accessories)” feature on their applications to provide users with these items BY REQUEST only thereby eliminating much unnecessary waste. This includes straws, napkins and condiments to be available by request as well.
