THICC Strip is back, and SameSide is pumped to help bring the political party.
What the hell is Thicc Strip? We're glad you asked.
It's a strip show exclusively featuring plus-size and body positive female-identifying dancers of varying experience levels. The purpose of this show is to normalize all bodies, empower women, and help bring Internet activism related to body positivity (as well as sex positivity) to life.
We're creating an interactive space for all body positive people to get together and celebrate the foundations of body positivity: self-love, confidence, and rejection of societal standards of beauty.
We want this to be a powerful statement, but we also want to have fun while doing it. Meaning, this is a party on top of a show.
We got MUSIC, DANCE PARTY, VENDORS of all kinds, and more interactive things planned, such as a glorious tit tub (seriously) and one-of-a-kind relaxation lounge provided by artist Kate Tatsumi
Furthermore, proceeds from this event will be going to the Downtown Women’s Center!
MEET YOUR HOST, SameSide
At SameSide, our mission is two-fold. One, we want to inspire people to host experiences that make the world a better place, and help our hosts earn money in the process. And two, we want to inspire people to attend those experiences – to turn off the TV for a night, get out of the house, and go be a part of something amazing. Our goal is to reach the millions of people who want to “get involved” and “do good” but aren’t sure where to begin, or feel like they just don’t have time. At SameSide, we believe that getting involved doesn’t necessarily mean “marching in a protest” or “attending a fundraiser.” There are lots of other ways to make a positive contribution. We want to show people hundreds of options they hadn’t considered before. Our core mission is to inspire people to “get up and do something.” Big, small, close to home, or across the country…just find something that excites you and do it.
how we are making a difference
Write Postcards to Reps
Slow and steady wins the race. Snail mail is still relevant when it comes to contacting elected officials. Signing post-cards give you the opportunity to share personal anecdotes about why you care about your cause. Plus, we'll take care of the nitty gritty and mail it on your behalf.
Social Media Advocacy
Channel your channels for change instead of avocado toast. Posting on social media gives you the ability to direct messages and photos at specific reps through public and highly trafficked channels. These days, elected officials have staff members specifically designated to monitor incoming inquiries, which means they're always listening- especially if this content comes through en masse. Not only will reps be listening, but your social network will be watching as well.
