JOIN US as we HIT THE STREETS once again for the Second Annual #MeTooSurvivorsMarch! #MeTooMarch International is demanding justice for survivors worldwide!
This is a survivor-focused event! There will be an incredible lineup of speakers, all of whom are survivors and/or work directly with marginalized survivor communities in the struggle for liberation and justice for all survivors. There will also be tables with resources for survivors and their loved ones. THIS IS A PERMITTED EVENT, meaning the street will be closed and there will be security on site. This will be an accessible/disability inclusive event. Attendees can take the RED LINE to Hollywood & Highland.
Attendees are encouraged to WEAR TEAL and bring/wear a teal BANDANA in solidarity with our movement! The bandana stands for the strength of #MeToo siblinghood as survivors and the support of allies.
SameSide will be advocating to end the backlog of rape kit tests. There has been a lot of progress made on survivor's rights when it comes to rape kit testing, but we still have a ways to go. We will be writing letters to Gavin Newsom telling him that as our newly elected Governor, we expect him to lead the charge for survivors in California. Don't forget to stop by!
For more information, see the Facebook event.
At SameSide, our mission is two-fold. One, we want to inspire people to host experiences that make the world a better place, and help our hosts earn money in the process. And two, we want to inspire people to attend those experiences – to turn off the TV for a night, get out of the house, and go be a part of something amazing. Our goal is to reach the millions of people who want to “get involved” and “do good” but aren’t sure where to begin, or feel like they just don’t have time. At SameSide, we believe that getting involved doesn’t necessarily mean “marching in a protest” or “attending a fundraiser.” There are lots of other ways to make a positive contribution. We want to show people hundreds of options they hadn’t considered before. Our core mission is to inspire people to “get up and do something.” Big, small, close to home, or across the country…just find something that excites you and do it.
Slow and steady wins the race. Snail mail is still relevant when it comes to contacting elected officials. Signing post-cards give you the opportunity to share personal anecdotes about why you care about your cause. Plus, we'll take care of the nitty gritty and mail it on your behalf.
Channel your channels for change instead of avocado toast. Posting on social media gives you the ability to direct messages and photos at specific reps through public and highly trafficked channels. These days, elected officials have staff members specifically designated to monitor incoming inquiries, which means they're always listening- especially if this content comes through en masse. Not only will reps be listening, but your social network will be watching as well.
Please wear teal and bring a bandana.
