Experience Description

We're kicking ass, taking names, and phone banking of course! Join SameSide's own Sarah Whitman for a kickboxing class at Alliance Culver City followed by phone baking for Katie Porter and free smoothies from The Bees Knees Protein Bar! Katie is an amazing first-time candidate running in a historically Republican district, but we're getting ready to flip it blue!

The class is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Alliance Culver City members, email sarah@onsameside.com for a discount code! Please show up about 15 minutes early to sign a waiver. If you have your own kickboxing gloves, please bring them, and make sure to bring a laptop/tablet and headphones. We can't wait to see you there!

Sarah Whitman:

How We Are Making a Difference

Social Media Advocacy

Channel your channels for change instead of avocado toast. Posting on social media gives you the ability to direct messages and photos at specific reps through public and highly trafficked channels. These days, elected officials have staff members specifically designated to monitor incoming inquiries, which means they're always listening- especially if this content comes through en masse. Not only will reps be listening, but your social network will be watching as well.

Phone Banking

Talk isn't cheap - this type yields high dividends. Phone banking differs from calling your reps in that the tables are turned - rather than ringing an elected official, you'll be ringing constituents in key districts to advocate on behalf of candidates you want to see elected or policy you want to see enacted. Bonus points for the warm fuzzies you'll feel after your first call.
