Kicking ass and busting open transparency for the gender pay gap in California.
From the people who showed that women could kick ass in movies and media comes an experience that will show you how to be a superhero in your everyday life. Join Team Artemis and the Kick-Ass Academy to unleash your inner stunt warrior and become a kick-ass stunt-person for a day. We will also advocate for California bill AB 1209, the Gender Pay Gap Transparency Act.
You will leave this experience with an understanding of how to utilize and practice proper core strength along with basic stunt fights to choreograph and shoot your very own fight scene! The stunt fighting skills you learn can also be applied to stage plays.
Throughout the experience, we will promote our #WomenKickAss mantra and advocate for laws to eliminate the gender pay gap in California. We will also raise awareness of the Artemis Film Festival which showcases film projects with strong, physically capable female leading roles.

Hi! I am Melanie Wise and I’m a co-founder of the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival which promotes film projects with strong, physically capable and empowered female leading roles. The festival is heading towards its fourth edition.
I’ve spent the last (almost) 30 years doing strength conditioning, injury rehab, nutrition, and I make my own line of herbs. I have an uncanny knowledge of human anatomy, robust understanding of the fundamentals of core strengthening, and fix many ‘unfixable’ body parts. My success rate at injury rehab is about 90% and I do take on clients with more ‘challenging’ issues. Additionally, I’ve spent the last 15 years making Indie film projects. I am an actor/stunt fighter and my team is comprised of stunt choreographers, stunt performers, writers, directors, etc. My mission is to re-define the feminine principal in film and support all women to be their most kick-ass self!
