The Why, The Experience and The Science

What’s The Deal with Go With the Flow: Legalize It?

October 18, 2018

What if the body was inclined toward healing and that healing could be enhanced by movement and plant-medicine? Spoiler alert: That’s what’s happening!

Ganja Guru yoga founder, Adam Brous is gearing up to give you exactly that experience. Imagine this: flowing through yoga postures while evoking the body's natural ability to heal itself with the help of CBD.

The Why:

A bout with on-going migraines and exploration of various avenues of pain relief led Adam Brous to plant-medicine and the use to cannabis. He found cannabis products deepened his yoga and mediation practice as it helped to alleviate physical pain and anxiety. A 200 Hour certified yoga instructor, Adam felt called to share his personal healing experience with cannabis and yoga which led him to create Ganja Guru Yoga, a yoga brand the mindfully incorporates cannabis use and yoga through events and classes. Adam is also a passionate advocate for cannabis legalization and access which led him to collaborate with SameSide.

The Science:

There is a lot of misinformation and lack of education surrounding the differentiation of cannabinoids. So here are some quick facts from our friends at Color Up Therapeutics regarding CBD- one of many different cannabinoids. CBD does not affect the same cannabinoid receptors in the body that THC does, so there is no “high” associated with CBD. The human body has an endocannabiniod system and CBD interacts with that system and activates different receptors like vanilloid, serotonin, and adenosine receptors. The vanilloid receptors can help to mediate different pain signals in your body. The serotonin receptors will affect and change your mood. The adenosine receptors determine both your sleeping and waking cycle. That’s not where this chemical compound stops, it also blocks fatty acids and helps to regulate pleasure functions like memory, pain, reward, appetite, and sleep. The CBD boosts chemical levels in your body and can affect one or more of these functions. So if Bill Nye was trying to explain this in layman terms, CBD aids in healing your body without psychoactive effects.

Oh, not to mention Color Up Therapeutics products are 100% natural and plant-based and cruelty-free.

The Experience:

So what can you expect at  Go With The Flow: Legalize It? Picture this: You’re laying on your mat at Color Up Therapeutics looking up at the 12 foot ceiling covered by ornate white antique ceiling tiles. As Adam guides you and you settle into your yoga practice, CBD salve and massage oil is offered to help evoke a state of calm and enhance healing. Through movement and breath you stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system and for the first time in a while, you feel truly at ease: your shoulders are soft, your jaw unclenched and your breath steady. Class is sealed in with a blissful savasana with the option of relaxing hand-on assists.

Ummmmmm, is this real life or nirvana?

The experience will wrap with cannabis activism made easy through post card campaigns and text advocacy.

The Details:

So that’s the scoop, my friends. The why, the experience and the science- a trifecta of greatness. Join Adam Brous and SameSide at Color Up Therapeutics on Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:00pm for a CBD, yoga and advocacy experience for the books.
