SameSide had a weekend jam-packed full of activism and fun! If you couldn’t tell, we’re gearing up for November 6th and we’re giving you as many opportunities as possible to get involved. Last weekend, we had three - count ‘em - THREE events to take on the midterms. Here’s a recap in case you missed them!
Modo Mingle + Change
Friday night we were at Modo Yoga LA East for the second time for their monthly Modo Mingle event. This class was Namasdrake themed, so of course, we brought our Kiki, Are You Voting shirts! Guests took an awesome Karma class with Alice as Drake serenaded them (kind of). When class was over, SameSide was ready with our voter guides, voter registration tools, and our merch! All proceeds from the class went to A Purposeful Rescue. We talked, drank, and got fired up for November 6th.
P.S: Sorry to the guy who tried to joke about not being registered to vote, and I took it way too seriously… Not the time Carl...not the time.
Kick Ass in the Midterms
We started off Sunday morning with a cardio kickboxing class at Alliance Culver City. Sarah (that’s me) led guests through a class where they could get out their anger about our current political climate before making a difference! My favorite shirt of the day: Smashing the Patriarchy Is My Cardio. After class, we drank smoothies from the AMAZING Bees Knees Protein Bar. They were kind enough to donate smoothies so we could fuel up for some phone calls! Smoothies in hand, we got out our phones and computers and called voters from CA-45 and talked to them about voting for Katie Porter! Phone banking is the best way to make sure people get out the vote, and we are so grateful to everyone who came to support.
Women Who Wine: Art and Activism
The weekend culminated at Junior High LA with wine tasting from MiShawn Williams and an RBG screening! And yes, we do really love RBG that much. MiShawn led guests through an interactive wine tasting experience where they were able to ask questions and gain real knowledge about the wine they were drinking. We loved the vibe of this smaller group and how easily we were able to open up the conversation about feminism, politics, and why this election is so important. Then, slightly buzzed, we got to watch our hero on the big screen again.
We are STOKED to have so many people getting involved in SameSide, and we’re keeping the experiences coming! Make sure to check out our experiences page for all of the events leading up to the midterms. Your voice is powerful. Make sure you use it. There is always #PowerThroughPeople.
