Big Booty Yoga strikes again with the Downdogs & Democracy series! Local yoga sensation and founder Kady Lafferty has created a judgement-free, safe space for meaningful flow where all are welcome, regardless of size, color, age, or background. Her classes can be found all around the Denver Metro area and more recently this summer at Red Rocks amphitheater, where she was privileged to have the chance to teach Yoga on the Rocks for thousands of Denver locals.
The most recent Downdogs & Democracy was held on August 8th at Color Up Therapeutics, a community space that harbors the plant-based, animal and human-friendly CBD product lines of the same name. Kady led an intimate group through a centered and introspective practice while channeling her signature upbeat and humorous teaching style. Post-savasana, she shared her personal connection to DACA and family separation at the border: as a former caseworker primarily serving the Hispanic community, Kady’s work with her young students inspired her to advocate for immigration reform.
While the yoga was soothing and upbeat, the advocacy portion of the evening was full of passion and urgency. After placing calls to their elected officials and signing 6+ postcards each, attendees generated over 100 advocacy pieces in support of DACA, family reunification, and humane immigration reform.
